Breeding Bird Surveys
We know birds. Our field staff have decades of experience identifying Alberta’s bird species by sight, sound, and behaviour. We have conducted breeding bird surveys in all areas of the province, and are experienced in numerous survey methods including Point Count Surveys, Spot Mapping, Broadcast (or Call Playback) surveys, Migration Surveys, and Nocturnal and Diurnal Owl Surveys. While we generally conduct visual and auditory breeding bird surveys for most of our projects, our staff also have experience using remote bird monitoring techniques, such as using a drone to survey waterbird colonies, or using Autonomous Recording Units (ARUs) to sample birds in more remote locations.
