Snow Tracking Field Essentials is a one-day, field-based practical workshop on identifying tracks in snow. Suitable as a crash course for beginners, this course is frequently a “breakthrough” experience even for experienced trackers. Ideal for ecology students, wildlife researchers, and environmental consultants with any level of tracking knowledge or experience.

Learn to recognize key characteristics in track patterns, and apply your knowledge of the character and physical attributes of each species as a crucial first step to identifying the track-maker. Participants will reduce their dependance on footprint features to confidently match track makers to species.

Participants will spend the day learning from a certified wildlife tracker with more than 20 years of professional tracking experience.

Participants are responsible for their own transportation, food, and drink.

SOCIAL EQUITY EFFORTS

In the interest of promoting social equity, we are reserving 6 places in the workshop (50%) for those identifying as women, 2SLGBTQI+, indigenous, and persons of colour / visible minority. In all other instances, applications will be prioritized in the order they are received. As such, after receiving your application, you will receive an email within two business days, notifying you of one of the following:

  1. that your application has been successful, and that an invoice for $200.00 + GST, payable upon receipt is being prepared.
  2. that you have been added to a waiting list and if an opening becomes available, we will be in touch.  

CANCELATION / REFUND POLICY

  • Fees will be refunded (minus $25 admin fee) if you cancel before October 1st, 2023
  • 50 % of fees will be refunded if you cancel between October 1 2023 & October 31, 2023. If we are able to find someone to fill your spot, fees will be refunded (minus $25 admin fee).
  • Fees will not be refunded if you cancel after October 31, 2023 unless we are able to find someone to fill your spot, in which case all fees will be refunded (minus $25 admin fee).

Other Workshops
